longrange 0
HERE WE GO AGAIN, was out this morn up the hill, after a few rabbits, left the jeep, started up the woodside, i stopped and spied, a hillwalker. watched him come all the way over to my jeep, and you"ve guessed it he had a good nosy then carried on walking. MY point is before this right to roam, stuff he probably wouldn't have been on private land in the first place. I say this because i know of a keeper who left his jeep 300 yds from a release pen offroad, and 3 miles from a main road, along comes mr wooly hat, has a gander in the LOCKED JEEP and reported to police he could see a wepon inside, what they claimed was in view. he"s still fighting for his FAC. I had SO 19 OR A TROJAN called on my self earlier this summer on a place i cant lamp, but could shoot early morning, thank goodness the sergeant who came out was a smoker,we had acup of coffee and a smoke, he told me he knew who i was and what i was doing but someone had called saying they had seen a guy getting out of a jeep at 4 am with cammo on. probably wont bother the lamping guy"s but stalking morn or eve can be a pain with so many wanderer"s about. seen the one with the police helicopter dropping onto the pigeon shooters? remember what they said on hill street blues.? you guys be ??????? out there all the best Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
There are one or two "Eagle Eyed" watchers here, but they tend to stay away from us. and report behind your back. The Police are ok of late. SS Quote Link to post

Why not call your local nick tell them where and when you will shooting give them a contact mobile number so soon as any body reports seeing any one cammoed up and carrying a gun they will phone you to confirm saves a shite load of grief I have done this ever since I had a trojan unit and a helicopter turn up at 5 oclock one morning after a local dog walker reported me for laying in a ditch shooting in the direction of a school that happened to be 2 miles away Quote Link to post

longrange 0
Iamduvern -mate you are right ,saves a lot of hassle in the long run and its only a phone call . TOTALY, agree with this advice, but if i called my nick every tme i went out they"d tell me to bugger off. still would"nt stop the NOSIES? when i was a pro stalker we had a good relationship with hill walkers nowdays they just tell you to p***0ff in answer to john galway, i know what it used to be like over there, spent 3 years waterford, 2 years mayo, the best 5 years of my life, if my wife of 33 years hadn"t contracted cancer i would have gone straight back to ireland. when i was there i achieved the distinction of being FIT FOR ANY THING? by the lads. if somebody thinks what FOXDROPPER does, is boring , just think how bored he would be when it wasn"t unusual to get 20 - 30 in a night, some of the lads overthere might remember what it was like in the early "s all the best Quote Link to post

The one 8,598
I do a local golf course with the rimmy you need a very early start because dog walkers and one morning at 5am a bloody jogger had the cops out a couple of times ,Then at work we drive round shooting the rabbits from the car 3 of us have permission and weve had the armed responce out 4 times we give them a call when we start tell them who we are and where and when we finish but if they get a phone call the armed responce will still attend .There a good bunch of lads stop for a smoke check the guns have a shot and leave with a couple of rabbits Quote Link to post
Gimli 0
I get a lot of joggers and walkers on the three farms I shoot on in Herts. One is particularly bad and one day a copper and a community support officer turned up unannounced. I was in my hide 50 yards from the car - I could see them but they couldn't see me. My semi-auto was locked in the car with no ammo and I was in sight of it all the time. They had obviously een called out by a jogger or walker and gave me a hard time over the gun in the car, even though I was in reach of it and it was not unattended. They wasted 45 mins of my and their time before leaving me in peace. I now call in to the local contact centre at Herts police every time I go out in order to avoid this. They seem to welcome me calling in and I haven't had ay trouble since. Pain in the butt, but if it keeps them off my back..... Quote Link to post
Brooke 0
last month while out shooting we got a visit in the middle of nowhere at 2.30 in the morning by the local force, after checking us out and our certificates, vehicle etc they then thought it was a good idea to call the land owner,i asked if they would leave it until a little later in the morning and they refused. that call was to a very unhappy farmer and cost me two bottles of whisky the next day. the farmer owns houses in the area and has since told every one of them that he has pest control out and NOT to go calling the police. no more trouble since.................... as for the wooly hats.......we have talked to most of them and it seems that the majority where we go are in the 50+ age range and some will even ask for a rabbit or two to take home. the only time we have had any real bother was last year while pigeon shooting, mister and mrs anti were out with their new camcorder, watching our every move and trying to put the birds off the field, they got sick before we did. longrange 0
HELLOW ALL this post, was started as a wee wakeup reminder of what it"s like these days. I have nothing but respect for the lads an lassies in blue, i should know, i trained some of them and married one. it still must be a real pain in the bum to attend all these callouts! i supose it"s the times we live in. got a lady , that"s lost all her hens and ducks, to foxes , cant help, to close to the village in the old days would"v sorted it out quite quickly oh well!. cheers Quote Link to post
