jazz_11 5
Well i just had a bright idea, everybody says how you need to leave hemp nets to dry and if you dont they rot well......... i work in a fishing shop and i know several guys soak there nets in linseed oil in order to stop it smelling and rotting and it does work i have seen it myself. could this work on hemp nets i do belive it has to be soaked for a fair while but could it be worth the effort... cheers jazz Quote Link to post
The one 8,595
It might mate but like treating them with wood preserver why bother i used to use hemp nets split them up into two lots of 150 and use the attentively and hang them up to dry when i was out with the other lot of nets .but i moved over to spun and there less bother but i still hang them up after every outing Quote Link to post

Netter 0
Years ago when there was no such thing as nylon, trawl and other fishing nets were made from sisal, as these were used in the sea and were never dried out they were tarred with either pine (stockholm) tar or coal tar or soaked in a bark solution (barked) Quote Link to post
