A Changing Pack

We have all heard how each dog will find its place in a working dog pack and a new adition will fit in and find its role in a short period of time, but what about the original dogs within the pack.

 

Why i ask is before the adition of Fudge to my pack, my Terrier Ted would take it upon himself to do the work of 10, flying around looking very impressive and never tiring but to be honist missing alot, whippet boys Border is very steady so he became the worker and she was the finder.

 

Now Fudge has joined the pack, she has become the worker flying around but not ranging to far and with her nose missing very little, the intreasting thing is that my terrier has now calmed right down allowing her to do the work but his steadyness has now improved his finding and he is catching alot more himself.

He has changed his working habbits so much that when i got Fudge it was like getting 2 new bushing dogs.

 

I just wonderd if this has effected anyone elses dogs working together for the better, or i supose it could just as easily be for the worse.

weve just added a beddie terrier bitch to our little pack,she hasnt done much but is learning on every outing...we are running six terriers this season and they are still working out the best way of doing things..find it very interesting how there roles are changing as the pack settles in....my patterdale bitch was always in the thick of the action and somtimes missing stuff sculking away..now she stands back so she can see all of the action,the young beddie bitch is stuck tight in and missing a few..the biggest shock is that as a laugh we said we would use my mates moms westie,his recall is sh#te and he cant jump.but he kills more than his share
