gollum 1
Hi folks After much trawling through posts I find that the recommended gauge for rabbit snare wire is 6 strands of 0.457mm. Only trouble is I cant find anyone online that sells it..... I can get 0.375mm, or 0.4mm so I am wondering if its a reasonable compromise to get a narrower gauge ie 0.375mm and use 8 strands instead of 6. 6 strands of 0.457 comes to 2.742mm diameter in total, 8 strands of 0.375 comes to 3mm diameter in total or maybe slightly narrower using 0.4mm 6 strands of 0.4mm comes 2.4mm diameter in total. I'm hoping to make up some running poles for the grey squirrels too, should these be thinner wires or will the rabbit snares described above be ok? Any help much appreciated, if anyone could point me too an online supplier of 0.457mm that would be great... HH all. G. Quote Link to post

HH all. you are better with 0.457 for rabbit snares consisting of 6 strand, forget all the 8 and 10 strand rabbit snares crap , absolutely not needed , these snares are made and sold by people who have no idea about snaring, don,t use 0.375 for rabbit snares its to thin but a four strand snare made from the latter diameter wire o.375 would make a nice squirrel snare.
