Lewdan 17
COULD,NT BELIEVE IT Went out lamping with my mate last night, this was our first serious attempt this year, to get a fox, called to a place which we have been on through the summer but only by day, for pigeons and crows. we phoned the farmer before we left home just to let him know we would be on his ground that night, he said there was no problem and also told us he had seen a fox quite close to the buildings a few nights before Pulled up in the farmyard about 8:45 pm, unloaded our gear--- wellies, lamp, rifle etc, all with the usual clanging of bits and banging of doors all sorted, we walked to the first field,(all of 50yds away), my mate with the rifle me with the lamp. i gave a squeek flicked on the lamp, and there running flat out toward us was a fox i had to stop him with a shout he turned sideways to run back but my mate was on to him and dropped him with a heart shot at about 60yds,walked over to the shot fox to examine as we do, and out of the edge of the lamp glow saw another fox in the gate way, when we turned he had dissappeared so i gave a few squeeks as we made our way to the same gate way, turned the lamp on to the field below and there he was just standing looking at us We were the last things he saw because a second later he was hit with a 40gn v max, literally seconds after this shot i flashed the lamp down to the side of a small wooded area i could not believe what i saw to foxes side by side running straight at the lamp, my mate panicked, did,nt know which one to shoot but one veered off to the left and the oyher kept comming, so his choice was easy, the fox stopped for a second as i changed tone of squeek and again was dropped with a heart / lung shot at about 80yds i checked my watch it was 9:15pm so within 30mins we had baggeg three foxes and only walked litterally 2 fields from the van walked the rest of the permission, saw two more but could not get close, went to another farm, this time i took my rifle mate on the lamp, and guess what happened SOD ALL !! nothing about got back home about 2:30 Knackered , but happy Quote Link to post
