So for all you start em youg fans, what would be the point in

dragging a 3-4 month old youngster out into the fields on a

freezing cold wet windy day to tie it out at a dig that may

take 3-4 hours? How would this benefit a young pup? I'd just

like to hear your thoughts.

no foxes in the isle of man mate no , but if you read the post it states "i dont take ANY HUNTING dogs into the field till there 6 month old" no 1 has mentioned terriers or diggin until now ??????? so do you agree with the statement about not takin ANY HUNTING dogs into the field until there 6 month old ? now if the subject was about diggin i would agree with what youve said but it wasnt, have to go to the u.k. for diggin mate but yes i go half a dozen times each winter no expert though.

seen something simular a few years back fellxspringer great nose was used to flush foxs from cover would mark holes but not go to ground the only thing that letr it down is it would not give tounge when working close in cover but was a very handy bush dog

Great wee dog there, I keep cocker/terriers myself, cracking hunting dogs, I use mine mainly for pushing foxes out of cover.

I used to train mine trailing up a scent trail when they were a similar age, but I was never keen to get them out into the field working until after 12 months, as they will soon get keen, and they do love to push themselves hard. Thats just my way, each to their own.

Im sure the owner of this pup knows fine well what hes doing! Some of the posts on here are rediculous!!

I hope it makes them a great wee hunter for him
