Can anyone enlighten me as to what the purpose is of having red and green filters on a lamp.

I intend to lamp for rabbits and foxes but no sure why anything but normal white light would be used?

Thanks in advance.

They can help you if the intended quarry are lamp shy. Change colours and get another bite of the cherry.

That's the idea but never been impressed with any over the years, and some (particularly the red) dramatically reduce the light beam/range!! These days I use nothing but normal beams, no filters, but always use a dimmer control to adjust for individual situations!!
