SGC application - an important question!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Been a lurker for a while, just skimming through the site, learning from you all and having a whole lot of fun!

I have had a few clay shooting lessons and i'm now in the process of filling in my SGC application form. Im pretty much OK with all the questions on the form and i'm up on gun security (I sell gun cabinets at work and so hear a lot about people applying for certs! I share their happiness and frustration!)

A friend of my dad who is a fire officer for nottinghamshire (where I live) is going to countersign my application (I phoned the FEO for my area and he says this is fine).

I have read the BASC notes on applying for SGC and they claim that the countersignatory may get a police visit! I just wanted to know is this has happened to anyone on the forum?? I don't want to inconvenience my friend too much and I don't know how happy he will be having the FEO knocking on his door.

Is this a common occurence??

Thank you very much in advance

Sam

Think it's a precaution in case FEO thinks youre a bit dodgy.

However, if they did want to check out your referees, they wont hassle them, they might get a phone call, possibly a visit, but I really wouldnt worry about it. If your ref has agreed, then they wont be put out either.

OK, cheers guys.

Looks like they'll only visit if they have doubts over my character (can't think of any reasons why they wouldn't!)

Cheers for the quick replies!
