Bandit 0
Dear Holey, Could you clarify a few points for us: a. Has the Jill reached full Oestrus, i.e. has her vaginal opening swollen up to three or four times it's usual size. b. Is there a Hob with the Jill, i.e.in the same Hutch/Court. I'm asking these questions, and if they come back on the positive I will have a few more,so as to shed a little light as to your situation and to clarify the Jills position. To answer your initial question, my Jills have not yet come into season Bandit Quote Link to post

Guest Woody
How old is she Holey? I had a hob that went really tubby once, when he got old, and that was an illness. I don't want to scare you, but keep an eye on it. It could be phantom pregnancy, but that doesn't make much sense if she's not even come into season yet! Quote Link to post

Bandit 0
My Dear Pennymeadow Whippets May I open this post by asking you to not post half truths and misinform Holey and any other readers. The PITUITARY gland is located at the base of the brain. The gland is divided into two parts a. The anterior: which produces four hormones 1. Thyrotropic hormone = Controls the action of the Thyroid. 2. Cortiotropic hormone = Controls the action of the Adrenal cortex. 3. Growth hormone = Controls the animals growth particularly in puberty. 4. Anti-diuretic hormone = Acts on the kidney to prevent excessive excretion of water. b. The Posterior: which produces two hormones 1. Gonadotropins- Folic stimulating hormone = Promotes the ripening of eggs in the ovaries Luteinizing hormone = Causes ovulation Prolactin = Stimulates the mammary glands so that they are ready to produce milk 2. Oxytocin = Makes the pregnant uterus contract as whelping and stimulates the release of milk from the mammary glands. I accept the fact you can just about grasp the concept of the increase in daylight hours bringing a Jill into Pro-Oestrus, but please refrain from broadcasting untruths, when you are not in possession of a full and qualified knowledge of the subject. I await your civil reply Bandit Quote Link to post
