jultaylor1972 2 Posted September 4, 2008 Report Share Posted September 4, 2008 I decided to go ferreting today on some new permission, its a huge garden and the owners were thrilled that I agreed to give it a go today - despite the cover being quite bad! I arrived at 9.30 and was all set up by 10.30. I went and had a fag and put the ferrets collars on them (This was done on purpose so any noise I had made whilst setting the nets was long forgotten by the rabbits )At 11am I put the ferrets in here By 11.15 I was busy climbing up here for my terrier!! Who had managed to get herself about 15 feet up the lime tree!! The man had to get me some ladders and hold them steady for me - this whole escapade took around 45 minutes! And this after I'd planned everything so well to be quiet! Now I have to add ladders to my ferreting list! Anyhow - I worked on for an hour and managed to get four rabbits so I was still chuffed, Im getting better at setting the longnets and putting them away, my terrier is getting better at staying still and waiting quietly (Just the new climbing skills need to be stopped!)And my ferrets are all working so well, I had to dig a three foot hole - which my terrier helped me do I had to tie her up to dig it safely! And I pulled a rabbit out with my best ferret attatched to it! Here's a few pics of the day - sorry they are a bit boring but I was on my own. This is the best working ferret Ive had! Dont worry about the climbing, i'll give you a crash course when i get me harness sorted............ remember to keep next friday free???? Quote Link to post
jultaylor1972 2 Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Share Posted September 4, 2008 I forgot to say; the people were so happy that I was there trying to help them they kept insisting I took some money but I refused and explained I was just grateful to have more permission so they made me take a leg of venison! longdogrunner will be getting that though as a thankyou for all the times he fixes my tangled longnets! There's going to be a phone call tomorrow, but its just the last 12 meshes this time - it always seems to happen as Im picking up the last arms length? i'll try and sort it myself as its no where near as bad as usual - honest!
