lurcher training

just wondering if anyone knows how to teach a lurcher to fetch and retreve as mine is fine on moveing targets but when it is just sitting there he just ignores it

 

also any way to stop him jerking and pulling the lead as every time i walk him he pulls like he is trying to move a car not walk up the road

 

 

any help is valued

i have a 18 month old bedlington greyhound with the trouble of pulling on her lead, i find that the best solution with her is a very short lead about twenty centimeters long and she is slowly getting better.

I use one of those spaniel rope chokers leads with a puppy and keep it short.....if your walking the pup outside another useful tip is to walk the pup on the inside so that if it pulls in front you can walk it close to the fence this usually keeps it in line....In relation to the retreiving if it's reteiving moving objects try keeping the dog on the lead and torment the dog till he's worked up , drop the dummy and walk away a couple of yards then send him back for it as gradually increasing the distance....goood luck hope this helps.

my pup (nearly 6months) wont pick up or retrive anything in the backyard hes not interested just looks at you silly. bring him out for a walk enter the fields throw the tennis ball he will chase it down and retrieve it over and over , hope hes the same with the bunnies. he pulls a bit on the lead it doesnt bother me to be honest
