1jd 0
hi, new to this site as well. i have a patterdale who is seven months old, he had his first rat by accident at 12 weeks old. i shot one with and air rifle and disabled its back legs. it let of a scream and JD shot off after it. he went over to sniff it but the rat bit him on the leg and he then yep and dispatched it. but from then on he was wherery of and live or dead rat that we saw round the farms. at 4 months old i used to take him shooting with the air rifle and any rabbits that was not a strigt clean kill he would run up to them and finish the rabbit off. but at six months old all his adult teeth had come trough and are still growing, he is a different dog. he got a few young rats in the old mill and he then started to hunt them. then about a week later he got hold of a massive jack rat, while in his mouth the rat turned and bit him on the cheek. since then he has learnt from his mistakes and shows them no murcey and has turned into a good little ratter. i feel that i should point out the he was a litter of five and all the pups went to working homes and all of them are now starting in the field but JD is the only one to start knotching up kills. thanks michael
