jamie g 17
hi lads has anyone tryed the 40 gr hornady ammo in there 22/250's ? if so how you find it and what sort of damage does it do ? i guess it wont be as good over longer range as a 50 gr as the wind will get to it ? but up to 200 yards on crows and rabbits i bet its good stuff ? i just wanted to no as im picking some up in abit Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
They will smash them to pieces Mate. I have seen them fired through a .223, I assume you mean the V-Max? Dead foxy everytime no messing around. I should think even in the wind, there will not be a huge amount of difference as what you lose in weight you gain in speed, so 250 yards no trouble, and on a still night, whatever distance you want. Regards SS P.S What have you ordered Moly or Copper jackets? Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
The copper Jacketed ones look like normal everyday bullets. The Moly's look Black/Dark Grey. Has the load been developed for your Rifle? I mean has the load been started at the minimum load of powder and worked up? If not then I suggest you don't shoot them as you never know, but best to err on the side of caution IMO. Regards SS Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
Different cal I know but the 40 grains shoot quite well in my .223 also. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Yep, 40gr is no problem at all at 250 on a fox, and that's from 223. 22-250 shoots it even faster so it will be fine. I spent the weekend knocking over (should that be taking apart?) bunnies with it.. Quote Link to post

Regards SS the cases have been full length resized but like you said the load hasnt been made up for my rifle and it is on the high side so i mite dismantle them and get them redone with less charge. i have some 53 gr barnes bullets to with 35.5 gr varget. im going to give them a go as its not a very hot load so should be fine in my rifle.
