countrymaid 2
Ive just had a huge bust up with a pet vet at the practise that my kennels/stables/farm has been with for many years, all of the vets that we use are on holiday and they had a pet vet standing in for them. Ive took a litter of 4 day old whippet puppies into have there dew claws removed, the appointment was made and i went in. When i got to the vets i was asked by the pet vet if any of these pups at 4 days old where going to be working dogs as she would only do the working ones, i exploded and said how do i know at that age which ones would go to working homes. The vet said she had a problem with removing the dew claws from any other puppies apart from terriers, i exploded after that and i said give me the stiptic pen and i would take them home and do them myself!!! she then told me that was illeagal and she would report me. Well ive closed our large account with them, the vet was so rude to me i still cant believe how she spoke to me!!! The vet in charge has just called me and appologised and has offered to come back off his holiday and do my pups dew claws in the morning, but ive also had another practise that heard what happened call me and offer to do the pups as they have been after our account for years now. What would you guys do, i was treated like a criminal today and i know i was in the right about the dew claws. Do many puppy buyers ever actually ask who did the dew claws/tails when they buy a pup. Well if you've been with these Vets for a long time and this is the first time you've had an issue I'd be prepared to give them another chance after all it was a temping vet that caused the issue in the first place. Your in a great position to get a discount on future work as a goodwill gesture for the hassle caused IMO, Quote Link to post

Think thats apolling mate i have dealt with the same vet for 12 years now and was down seeing him recently and asked youre question!! His replie was its not illegal yet as its not cruel and would save the dogs from more injuries without them than with due to turning at speed (Common Sense i would think) !! Sum vets just think there god and forget ther gettin paid to do a job !!! Hope you get it all worked out mate as the way the laws are going it wont be long before they find sum obscure reason to ban it ! all the best !! Anythingoes...
