whippet08 8
just wondered if you lads could give some advice on the subject for me,as not sure what is best, Im thinking of getting my bitch spayed as advised by the vet, for the better of the bitch now i have taken on her info:such as stoping parvo and ovarian cancer(earlier the better) in most cases ,and various other illneses, is she correct?,now i know it wont affect her future working abbility, and her temprement is perfect, my reason for asking for advice is,im not planning to have puppies from her but would like the window too still be open, BUT.....I wouldent want to risk her health, just for the sake of maybee having a litter in the future. have any of you have had problems, with not having bitches spayed, would you recommend having it done for stopping (i think) phantom pregnancys thankyou Rich Quote Link to post

countrymaid 2
It rearly annoys me when i hear yet another vet telling someone to spay a bitch as young as possible. I was told years ago by an oldie vet that he wouldent spay a bitch before its had its first season as you wouldent give a teenage girl a hysterectomy before she's hit puberty. I would let your bitch grow up physically and mentally before you start ripping out her major hormone organs, ive found when ive spayed my bitches after i bred from them they get fat and they tend to be slower. Your bitch might be the best worker you will ever have and then you might look back and say i wished id had a litter from her. Quote Link to post
