if its been looked after, it should last you for a while ;)

look after the engine, oil change & filters etc at regular intervals.

make sure they belts & tensioners HAVE been changed, if not, change them.

A lad i know bought an escort estate on a T reg....... and its got 170,000 miles on the clock, still running..... and if engine knackers, you can replace them quite cheap :good:

Rabbithunter's advice is good, the cambelt must be changed. As a rule if you loosen the top part of the cambelt cover you can tell if it's been changed recently, look at the belt and get someone to turn the engine over slowly, if you can see the printing on the belt it's been changes recently.

They're a damn good and cheap workhorse, about £100 should get a new cambelt fitted. If the cambelt breaks, the engine is history.

I had that exact model and I ruined it. They are rubbish off road you know

I bought it a year old I think and I accidently shot both wing mirrors off, smashed the back bumper in when I reversed into a fence trying to get a better shot on a pigeon, the seats were covered in blood and the speakers in the boot were rusted from dog spew and blood, the dials kept falling off but the air-con was good.

They're a good dog wagon and don't stick out like a sore thumb.

I ended up selling mine for 150 as it was only running on a few cylinders in the end.
