lgray88 4
I am led to beleive that cutting a barrel down in length will make no odd or very little odd in acuracy to a .22 rimmy . i am interested becuase at the moment i have a sako quad with the .22 and .17 barrels not to to worried about the .17 but the .22 id like cut down what is the absolute maximum i can have cut off i think the barrel is 21 inches as standard , i need it to be easy to swing around in the car so i can shoot out both windows with ease and still not be too long when i fit the moderator to it. liam Quote Link to post
hiho 5
i think its 12 1/5 inch but i aint sure Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
yes its 12 inch's i think. i would have it cut to 16 inch's and fit a nice over barrel mod and it will be perfect for shooting from a 4x4. the will be no difference in accuracy as long as the job is done right and its been recrowned it will be fine Quote Link to post
richie 1
i have a ruger 10/22T bullnosed barrel cut down to 12" & fitted with a sak, i also have another ruger 10/22T bullnosed barrel (standard). i had them both professionally screw cut & only one proofed. i find the grouping of the standard barreled rifle more tighter & especially when im shooting out to +yards, not much in it, but still a slight difference. but as i use the 12" rifle only for vermin, i can live with the difference. the standard rifle i use for vermin & competition shooting, so in my experience i notice a difference. rich Quote Link to post

richie 1
i paid £75 for the screwcut, recrowning & proofing & £45 for the other to be screwcut & recrowned. i went to two different shops to get them done, but found out they take them to the same gunsmith " someone at bisley ". i would go for the sak moderator, you cant go wrong for £28. there is one over barrel moderator that i saw advertised, but ill have to see if i can find the site, but the cost was £130ish i think. rich Quote Link to post
