i thopught you had to keep chaging fuel filter as it clogs up with the oil burning shit of from the inside of the engine. and iv always been told to think of it like this what happens when oil get warm in a chip pan? it starts frying and bubbling i wonder if it does it in your engine again i could be wrong im no expert.

Spot on imo. Pumps and injectors are lubricated by fuel oil. Veg' oil won't do the same...jmo

 

 

i got an x trail spot on but wouldnt mind a nevara And yes most of u's are right if u wanto keep your car then stick to the real thing !!! i've worked on cars / vans for a considerable length of time (FORD) mostly and aye can tell you that they diesels dont like anything but the real thing !!!! Think about it i work for ford but drive a nissan!!! A ford fuel pup costs about £700 + 4.5 hrs labour at £75 hr then injectors cost £130 a pop and an hr to fit and programe !!! Thats without any diagnostic time being spent on it !!!! I'd say its a big NO NO !!!!

will running some redex etc through every several month not help to clean the system out?

also how do you fair with the emmissions test(mot)??does it give of less or more with useing veg oil?

been running my toyota surf on 60derv/40 veg oil mix for the last year with no problems,run a garage and some of my customers run on mix without trouble also a lot of other garage owners use it in their own vehicles with no problems.i personally wouldnt run a modern common rail diesel engine on it,but any older vehicle with a mechanical bosch type injector pump should be ok. engines fitted fitted with a lucas cav injector pump can give problems,most japanese injector pumps are bosch type clones so should be ok.one of the most important things is not to mix too little derv with the veg oil,too little derv makes the mixture too thick and blows the seals out of the injector pump with the high hydralic pressure.50/50 would be my max..hope this helps greasemonkey

yep, bosch pump or other inline type pump works fine on veg oil, lucas/cav and other rotary types is a big no no. Lucas ones are fitted to disco and defender with 200/300 tdi engines so they are no good unless you are using a preheating system for the veg oil. Easy to make your own preheating system tho, if you can do a bit of plumbing. Kits on the net are rip-off prices compared to diy. good website: http://vegburner.co.uk/

 

I used it on '99 escort tdi, no probs, '98 volvo v70 2.5 tdi, all good, 2000 bmw 320d (didn't like it, hard 2 start).
