im getting a whippet pup in a couple of weeks..

i was just wondering about advice about training it and entering it on game...

all advice will be welcome

take your time and do what you think is best with the dog because you will no the dog better then anyone else!! they basically train them selfs mate what you need to sort out is obedience recall and stock breaking!! they have treamendus prey drive when the bunny moves he will chase!!just socialise at every chance when young and most inportant enjoy the time with him!! :victory:

Yep take your time,

 

get the basics in place (recal ect) never raise your voice to a whippet as thats the quickest way to ruine one.

 

once old enough take it were there a plenty of rabbits and if bred/reared the right way it will teach you more than you can teach it.

i totaly agree with slip and parkstone! The whippet with need success also. It's like every hunting dog success is what drives them

also take into account they can be stubborn and headstrong while hunting up so can take a while getting a young dog back,patience is the key then more patience you wont go far wrong with a whippet good luck mate.

That can be a problem especialy with bitch's between around 6-12 months they go through a stage of i'll do what I want.

 

time, kindness & patiance will be rewarded
