john b 38
I have now managed to successfully import a batch of Speed Dip from the US - but it's all been taken already. With a bit of luck there should be some interesting posts on here in the next week or so showing what the results look like. I am going to get some more and am willing to make it available to UK members on here. However it's a bit of a pain with import, customs and everything else and is a fair financial outlay so I am only prepared to supply it on a preorder and prepaid basis. I will supply a 1 quart tin of black speed dip for £19 plus £5 postage & packing. If you live close enough to fetch it then I am happy for you to collect. A 1 quart tin is mixed with a gallon of petrol for dipping so if you use a narrow and deep container you'll get the most out of it. If you want any please PM me by July 14th and I'll sort out the details with you.

Netter 0
Roughly how many fenn traps would a 1 quart tin do? how would you prepare a used trap to be dipped? and once you have mixed it with petrol and used it once is that it for that batch?
Axholme Ferreter 0
Got a couple of tins of trap dip from John B the other day and so got set to work this afternoon. I gave all the traps a good clean and scrub as the ones I was dipping were already used. Where they were very rusty I gave them a quick wire brush and then a rinse off. The dip instructions say to mix one quart tin with a gallon of unleaded petrol or coleman fuel. I priced up Coleman fuel (which is supposed to be the best to use) £6 for 500ml so I decided to use petrol instead, I then remembered how much that was these days but still a lot cheaper than the Coleman fuel. I thought over a gallon of dip was a bit much for the 40 traps I wanted to do so I used half a quart tin (erm........ that would be a pint then would it?) and half a gallon of petrol. Mixed it up and dipped the traps with no drama other than a leak in one of my rubber gloves!! The dip seems to cover very well and I squeaked doing 40 fenns out of the half gallon. Anyway they are hanging up in the back yard as we speak, the stuff goes touch dry after a few minutes in the sun but I will leave them out for a few days to get rid of most of the smell. They look very pretty and certainly seem a lot smoother in operation but the proof of the stuff will be in the catching!! Perhaps I should have done before and after photos like on the makeover shows but I forgot to take the before one! All the best AF
