I have just harvested my first two bags of potatoes - i got almost a full bucket of potatoes from four seed potatoes and am very pleased that they grew. Thanks to everyone on here who helped with my questions about growing potatoes.

Now another...........

I grew them in bags because my garden is all concrete. There is still a lot of compost left in the bags but it is full of little rooty bits from the potatoes. Can i use this compost to grow something else in now? I don't want to waste it or just use it for growing flowers - i'd rather grow something to eat. Is it ok to maybe put some fertilizer in the bags and grow another crop? Has anyone any ideas about what can be sowed at this time of year?

Thanks for any advice.

Littlefish.

Cheers Jacob - i have a load of carrot seedlings ready to go in some of the bags. Iv'e already got some beetroots planted in some of them and they seem to be coming on well in all this rain and heat. Hopefully they will do ok in the potato compost. I keep finding little pea sized potatoes among the compost, i'm just wondering if they will grow and maybe produce more potatoes. It is very interesting to watch things grow - nothing beats picking stuff from your own garden and cooking it fresh. I can't wait for the tomatoes to be ready next!
