They were to chuck over the stoney subsoil that had been pushed to one side while digging out for our drive way, that looked a bare mess. Not much came through last year, but this year, look at the results!! And I have literally done nothing. I've bought another few tubs and spread them around this year, so will hopefully get the same next year *fingers crossed* I know some of the flowers aren't wild, and my farmer ex husband, scowled at the poppies and corn marigold when he came to drop the kids back, but you know what, the Bee's love em! I'm quite fond of the bumble bee, and I haven't seen as many around as I used to when I was a kid - SO GET SOWING YOUR WILD SEEDS FOLKS!! My flowers .. Tis TM 8 Posted June 23, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 23, 2008 do you sow them now or should it be done at the back end for next summer To be honest kay I cant remember - my ones this year went out in May - and the year before they went out the same... but that wasn't because its what they said to do on the tin, it was just when I stumbled accross them. I think you have a bit of give and take with wild flower seeds, as they can lay dormant for a long time, waiting for the right conditions. Take poppy seeds for example.... A farmer could plough an old ley thats not seen poppies for years, and suddenly gets the red beauties springing up everywhere.... Quote Link to post Share on other sites
