where is the bull forum gone

Recommended Posts

Sorry people, I wanted to get a post up explaining what was happening in conjunction with the forum being pulled but what with the time differences it didn't happen.

The Bull Breeds forum has gone for a few reasons but mainly because in the current climate, there's not much that we can post about hunting wise on there, which was echoed by there not being much posting of hunting exploits. It used to be quite a lively forum pre-ban but those days have gone. As a stand alone bull breeds forum it was ok but I had to police quite a few posts that discussed things there had no place on a hunting forum and some things that would be of great interest to Butcher and his cronies.

At the end of the day, this is a hunting forum and the bull breeds section was becoming an indulgence as there was precious little about hunting on there lately. Rather than let it limp on, I felt it was better to knock it on the head. I've almost done this a few times in the recent past, with people squabbling and accusations flying around, but I thought I'd give it a couple of weeks etc but it's time to go now.

As you can see Staffman is getting a forum up so no doubt you folk will be welcomed there and you can post away all you like. Staffman has experience in forums so I'm sure he'll put on a good spread for you.

For those who hunt with the dogs, you are more than welcome to post in the terrier section on here.

All that's left is for me to thank everyone who has contributed over the years. It was the first port of call not just for me but for a lot of others for a while. It was a good little forum in its day.

Thanks

:victory:

Hi Stabs,

I've been around the block long enough to fully understand and respect your reasoning for disbanding the Bull Breeds section, but could I suggest a possible compromise?

There was a wealth of information, history and knowledge hidden away in there.... would it not be feasible to close the Bull Breed forum to all new posting, but keep it online as the valuable database that it was. There was a wealth of good stuff in there, despite some of the ill-advised posts.

It seems a shame to just lose it all :cray:

Just a wee thought................

and i understand where your coming from

but couldnt u of deleted the topics that got out of hand

and you say there where post unrelated to hunting

but there is other stuff on here that is unrelated to hunting

i.e photography

living of the land

Andy, no offence intended (genuinely) but the moderators (Stabs in this case) do the moderating voluntarily, the way it was going it would have been taking more and more time up, and as the lucky git is in Australia then I'm sure he has got plenty of better things to do!

Just my opinion.

Those that said it was an excellent section in the past were spot on, it was, and big thanks to Stabs for looking after it while it lasted.

JonniM, what on earth are you going to look at when you're up at 4am now? Or shouldn't I ask?!

always summit to look at hahahahaha

In todays social climate I think it is better to tuck our tails and let the antis win. :wallbash: :wallbash: If some people were making bad posts BAN them, seems simple to me.. This just shows lack of commitment to me and a defeatist attitude.. I work bulldogs so do my friends and the "social climate" will not change that..

Respectfully,

C.J.

So where were your and your friends hunting posts then?

There was no hunting being posted on there so it's gone. End of story.

If lads had posted hunting stories on there I would most probably have had to remove them, not something I would want to do as I used to hunt my own once upon a time. It wasn't just about banning people as my post above detailed.

As I said Staffman is getting a forum together so perhaps you and your friends can post threads about working your bulldogs over there?

well now i know... i leave for a couple of days and come back to find this.... you broke my heart, Stabs lol

i only signed into the forum today to find a particular thread to show to some people and now its gone, along with all the brilliant opinions and explanations for certain things.

MAYBE - pretty please with sugar on top - could you make an Archive in remembrance of the bull breeds forum? there was a LOT of great info in there, and even though hunting bulls have been banned, it hasnt been banned everywhere, and damn it, i was just getting started in looking for a pup to train for hunting and was going to bug the crap out of everyone for advice on training.....

sure i can do that in the new forum but, i am already a member of so many forums now... my poor little brain isnt big enough to remember all those websites, passwords and log in names lol

anyway, i know you did what you had to do.... i'll get over it eventually lol

Here is a working mastiff and bullbreed forum: http://canedapresa.17.forumer.com/index.php

Its strictly for working/performance dogs.

Its for PP/Hunting/Weightpull/Tracking/Agility/obedience/Bullbreeds/hunting mastiffs/boar dogs/bull dogs/running mastiffs/protection dogs and so on.

There are a few familiar faces from this board there too. Most memberships are approved the same day.
