Malt 379
The land is owned by somebody however, it can be difficult to trace owners of land sometimes. One thing you could try, is to knock at any neighbouring properties, even if not immediately next to the farm & ask if they know who the owners are. I know how daunting it can be to knock at a complete strangers house, but it becomes easier the more you do it. When I was a youngster I wouldn't have thought twice about just going there without asking, but the law looks on things a lot more seriously these days. If the law was to become involved, you could be looking at having your rifle taken away from you, & maybe the possibility of ending up in court on a charge of armed trespass. It can be hard to get your first couple of pieces of permission, & you might get 20 or more no's to one yes, but nothing beats the feeling of being able to truly enjoy your shooting without looking over your shoulder all the time. SEAN3513 7
good advice off maltenby.....................DO NOT even consider going without permission!!!! the charge is trespass with a firearm....!!!!!!!! its never easy as maltenby said..................but persevere and it will pay off in the long run. knock on doors...........but go without your gun and dress in your normal gear............turn up like rambo and you'll get told to feck off!!! don't get down hearted you WILL get permission somwhere............but i'm afraid it wont come to you and it wont happen overnight. good luck with it bog eye, and don't be affraid to ask for any further advice. we all know how hard it is. very best of luck to you regards sean Quote Link to post
Grim Reaper 1
I would agree with the sentiments and statements that Sean and Maltenby have said wholeheartedly. Don't get disheartened at refusals, they do happen unfortunately, but you WILL get times where you get a 'yes' - and i think you'll find that these can come when - and from where, you least expect them If you're a bit stuck on what to put in a letter, or indeed how to put it, you could try These - just a little something i put together (mainly for myself at first), but i have no probs at all with the membership using them. They are there for you all to use if you want to. The only proviso is that if anyone does use them, can they please maybe start up a thread on here so that we can all get to know how well (or even how bad) they are working out for everyone? Unfortunately, i can only say how sucessful they have been for me personally (100 % 'Yes' to written permission so far) - i have produced them to 2 landowners, and had a yes back, and i am awaiting a responce from my third presentation as we speak. Will keep you informed on what goes on there. Cheers guys, Grim Edited June 9, 2008 by Grim Reaper Quote Link to post
