IanB 0
Does anyone have a photo of the baffle arrangement at the front of one of these mods when you unscrew the end cap...? Quote Link to post
TOMY,HMR 0
Hello mate. I have one of these mods and i find when i clean it and re install the baffles. The last one which is differant to the rest should have the hook part laying flat across the top of the baffle stack. If you turn it the other way so the hook points up when you screw the cap on it, will not screw down the whole way. And will also cause the baffle to be pushed out of allighnment, so when you look down through the baffles. It wont look like a ture round tube. If you get what i mean. Sorry for the awkward description, hope it helps though. Cheers Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
uh-oh... have you dismantled your's to clean it? Quote Link to post
IanB 0
Yes bit awkward Tony I find if the last baffle is placed with the hook pointing towards the screw cap, everythings fine, put it the other way and the baffles are loose and the cap screws flush... Theres meant to be few mm gap on the screw cap.... Saying that can't remember what it was like before I unscrewed the lot, just being cautious... Quote Link to post
cbw 4
I am waiting for my rifle to come back from proofing having had one of these fitted, do you not take it apart to clean it then? Quote Link to post
IanB 0
Yes cbw the hmr rounds are dirty... but its fiddly getting it back together, don't throw away the rod you get with it when you buy Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
You can but it has to be squeeky clean to all go back in properly... this is really hard if you've shot copper washed high velocity .22 ammo or HMR stuff which leaves a residue. It needs a solvent which is a right fag. I think mine came with a metal rod to thread the washers on. The end cap never screwed all the way on as far as i can remember. I just clean mine with a spray of gun-scrubber and a few hard taps on a cork table mat... less swearing this way. Quote Link to post
cbw 4
Thankyou both! You can be sure whatever I do there will be washers all over the floor and residue over the wifes best table!! Quote Link to post
IanB 0
One of the baffles in the rifle (end baffle) was different to the rest, supposedly it shouldn't of affected anything but I phoned Jackson Rifles up to confirm how the mod should be seated, and clearance of cap.they stated it should consist of 18 baffles and sent me two new baffles in the post free, which I received next day, 10/10 for customer service .... Also stated when tightening cap, to nip it up further tighten, then give the mod a whack on a wooden bench, with a soft cover like a piece of carpet, then try and tighten a bit more, as baffles might shunt slighty also try and nip up a little after first few shots from cleaning... IanB 0
I've got the knack now gary, once there out its pretty easy to slide them back in using the supplied rod, mount all the baffles on the rod, holding horizontal then slowly guide one baffle in at a time and they go in pretty easy.... but if you can clean them ok with the standard gun cleaner whilst intact the jobs a good un Quote Link to post
shortshot 0
I just ground a couple of mm off that top baffle to seat the end cap fully. I don't take it apart nowadays as I 'm a bit frightened too!! cos they are a fiddle. Just soak it in diesel and give it a blast with an airline once in a blue moon. Quote Link to post
