jultaylor1972 2
Today I enjoyed the company of Chipper on some new permission. I contacted him last week to ask if he would helpme out a bit and as usual he obliged. (Thank god!! [smiley=boogy.gif]) I havent been ferreting that long and didnt want to go and show myself up in front of the landowner - who was there almost the whole time we were ferreting. Nell was a very welcome addition to the team today too, she accounted for most of the bolted rabbits - the only ones she didnt get were the ones that went into the nearby field which we couldnt do as they belong to someone else, she just seemed to know when to run, when to stop and where every single rabbit was! This was the first set she marked and we got four out of this one. This was the whole chipper dug out and we got a big one out of here, his dog ferret showed on the locator box. And here is the evidence that it really was him digging There was a rabbit in the wall but the landowner didnt want us to attempt it as it borders with land that isnt his - the big shame was that Nell was adamant there was a rabbit in it [smiley=wavesad.gif]Never mind on to the next set. Nell marked every hole that a rabbit came out of, we got 3out of here too! We went to check this but Nell wasnt too keen - she was right, there was nothing in it. We had to try as the owner thought there were rabbits there. After a spot of lunch, we netted up a small looking set and got 5 out of there. The picture has Nell and a young rabbit in it, believe it or not that rabbit sat there for a good 5 minutes, Nell was aware it was there but was waiting for a bigger one to bolt, she was right and that one went in the bag too. Just in case you cant see it - here's a big version of the rabbit. Both Chipper and me sat motionless throughout waiting for that big bolt which we got. The land owner wanted us to do one last set before we went, Nell had indicated that there wasnt anything there and it turned out she was right, she did let us know there was rabbits here though unfortunately, that borders with a farmers land, so nets up And off to pastures new to do a reccy with Nell. The farmer signed on the dotted line and thats more permission in the bag!! [smiley=drink.gif] Total for the day was 12. And what a fabulous day it was too!! Star of the day!! (Nell) A BIG thanks to Chipper for helping me out (again)miley=embarassed1.gif] Top bloke!! Im already looking forward to next time. Quote Link to post

Guest warren
looks like you had a great day how is nell bred We did have a good day and all day long julia kept thanking me for helping her out, well I did try telling her that it shoud be the other way around, I should be thanking her for the invite..... Thanks Julia.... Nell is a very mongrelly bred bitch, lurcher to lurcher for years but in in the last 20 years quite a lot of Collie, Whippet and gryhound mix has been added to the pot. She is 5 coming up and now needs a well deserved rest which she will get this summer. Regards Warren Quote Link to post
