I have never experienced a jill having babys in a 2 story hutch , but 1 member on here last year pm'd me worried to death as some of the kits had fallen down the ladder to the lower level, , that would be my only worry Quote Link to post

Scuzy 1
You should be able to tell if shes pregnant if you softly touch and feel her lower abdomen and you should be able to feel 3 or four lumps these are some of the kits, my jill is due in 3 weeks and i can feel the kits in her belly. But renember, only feel her very softly as you could do some damage and she might lose the kits. Quote Link to post
jazz_11 5
should i blok both tiers.. thanks Quote Link to post
T78 4
i think you should be handling them before 6/7 wk. they'll be having a nibble on a bit of meat at 3 or so wk! about this time to start handling.the jill shouldnt mind too much by then. altough every jill is different. Quote Link to post
jazz_11 5
a friend of mine handled his the same day they were born.... but i wont risk it will i need meat straight away, or after a 2 or 3 weeks... please any other advice... also i should blok up the whole then what does everyone think.. i think i will, Quote Link to post

T78 4
its fine mate, jills tend to lose a bit of coat when preggers, its used in the nest. also she will be losing her winter coat anyway. my jills the same so calm down! Quote Link to post
jazz_11 5
ok thanks mate your a ledgend Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
You should be offering the jill meat all the time , she will take it in the nest for the kits & they will start to attempt to eat it at about 3 weeks old i would block off the bottom section of the hutch for safety reasons Quote Link to post
