ChrisJones 7,975
After seeing your pictures of the 77 in action I was wondering whether you use it as your everyday rifle? I've always been a fan of the 77 but after selling mine... and seeing the 97 come on in leaps and bounds I was wondering whether to go for another. You said you had it tuned. Is just a tune to make it smoother or has the power been upped slightly? While I rated the standard 77 I didn't think it shot as well as the standard 97 although I did reckon the tuned varieties were hard to tell apart. What say you? Quote Link to post
pegandgun 52
Now then Chris.I bought a new 77 two years ago.I had it tuned as well.It doesnt make it anymore powerful but its more accurate, smoother, less recoil and quieter. After going onto a .20 calibre many years ago i then tried a .177 and found that it really does out shoot the .22s on vermin no problem. The secret to killing cleanly with an air rifle isnt power, its accuracy and the 77 is mega accurate I told Moley the same thing a few years ago and he was to say the least abit sceptic until i took him out with the 177 HW77.That same week Moley went out and bought a HW97 in 177 calibre. He went for the 97 because it was abit more modern. The 77 is the only air rifle i own and its the only one i will ever own.Ive tried alot of other rifles and found no other spring rifle to better the 77,i love it So yes its the air rifle i use for every day work and it really does everything i ask it too, they are shit hot Quote Link to post

Guest baldie
Chris, just to piss on your chips a little have a look at a pro sport in .177, its tuned outa the box, its better balanced and it has a better trigger [ yep, better than a record ] and its got a silencer built in too. I,m not knocking the 77 at all, i used to have one, cracking tool, but needs money spending on it to get it to shoot like the prosport does out of the box. Quote Link to post
