RatSnatcher 0
Been looking at the DR5 duster....... It look just like a Hoselock garden weed sprayer but about 3 times the price, granted it may have a brass nozzle but is there really that much difference?? Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
How about the fact that one's a garden Sprayer where as the DR5 is a purpose built, professional quality Duster You after wasps nests? Are ye papered to buy Ficam D then? Quote Link to post
RatSnatcher 0
Obviously ditch, but when you look at the spares sheet in the killgerm catalogue the DR5 looks like the same parts as a hose lock weed sprayer .......obviously I am going to by the DR5 but can the price be justified...... As it goes Ditch I have booked myself in for 3 courses with Killgerm, one of which is Tuesday, So if you were leading a question of will I be qualified to by the Ficam the answer is an impending yes Quote Link to post
Duzabit 0
Hi There' The dr5 is a great bit of kit, but make sure you purchase a couple of lances with it. What courses are you doing? i've been on nearly all the killgerm ones and took my RSH with them, very good courses. Duz. Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Rats; Ye'll f*ckin Enjoy those Killgerm courses, mate! Seriously ye will! They're very relaxed and ye get to rub shoulders with rank begginers to blokes who've been in the game all their lives and are popping in to freshen up. ALL bloody good people to have a chat with PPE covers ye for buying the shit. Insects would be an obvious huge advantage as then ye get shown how to Use it. But I'm more interested in wether ye doing the Rodent Control one? That's a blast! I passed mine " With Credit ". So there's something to aim for Talking of Aiming? I cannot possibly reccomend the Air Weapons Safety and Handling courses they offer too highly! Honest to god mate; Best f*ckin day out with an air rifle I've ever had! In my honest opinion though, it's the craic with the lads that really makes these days. Just being able to listen to and exchange experiences with So Many f*ckin Pesters! You'll Love it! Oh; And just get a DR5! How can ye ask Professional rates when ye turn up with a bloody Hozelock?! Stainless Steel Gloria for me! Looks the shit! Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Don't waste any money on a 'duststick', they are very yesterday. A DR5 with 3 6 foot lances will reach most nests, and is the 'dogs bollocks' IMHO. Another useful addition is an extending lance (brass) available from Barrettine. Most times, that is the one that gets the most use. A DR5 is worth every penny and will soon pay for itself many times over. Quote Link to post
RatSnatcher 0
Duz, I am doing the working safely in pestercides first mate, I already have a landscape management biz, so I am going to be doing what courses I need to get going, Insect control is next then rodent control, I looked into doing the RSH 2 in one go , but for me being in the south with bed and board, I was looking at well over £1200 with the trip to ossett before I purchased any equipment Whats the reason to buy a couple of lances Duz ? have they a habit of getting knackered? have you ever used the dustick? Drop me a PM if you like, and let me know where you are based, and I may be able to help. Whats the reason to buy a couple of lances Duz ? have they a habit of getting knackered? The majority of wasp nests (that is the main use for a DR5) are off the ground. To treat the nest effectively and safely, you are better off keeping yer feet firmly on terra firma. The lances just provide a method of getting the dust where you need it. have you ever used the dustick? For ten years it was all I had. I did thousands of nests with one, but I'd never go back to it now after using a DR5. Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Regarding the Lances; I have Three. There are a few double storey homes around Leitrim. I also have the strenghening brackets to keep them all together, should I ever need to use them that way. Best of all though, I pushed the boat out and bought the carrying case for them! Again; It simply Looks the B*llocks! People see ye turn up with a tesco's carrier bag? " Chancer! ". I don't have a flashy, sign written van - in fact I haven't got Any van! - but when I whack my bits out? They Look Like Professional bits Get the little brass tip too. Four inches long with an angled bend half way up. Saves ye standing on tip toe and raising ye arm to get the point into the hole Quote Link to post
Duzabit 0
Another good little tip is to attach a piece of flexible silicone tubing to the end nozzle of the dr5 or dust stick, this will help to get to the awkward nest entrances over gutters etc. Duz Quote Link to post
RatSnatcher 0
Cheers Duz.... Quote Link to post
