after a bit of advice i think ive decided on buying a nikon d80, have i made a good choice and if so what lens 70-300 would you recommend , price is a issue at the moment so around the £200-300 mark will be going to take photos of lurchers in action etc cant beleave theres cameras on ebay for nearly£18,000 :o:o all advice welcome

I'm using a sigma, with my canon 400D, which seems to be very good, and was a very reasonable price...! It cost me about £160...

ive got a sigma on my nikonf70 good lenses had a look how much my f70 was worth its like brand new about £25 they are fetching on ebay i give over £400 :wallbash:

I've got a D80 and a 70-300 vibration reduction lens,but,I can't remember exactly what I paid for it.I believe it was about £350?..................Great lens though!!! atb..........Martin.

Oh yes you have made a good choice, listen to people on here that have used the camera for help with the settings etc..Nikon glass is great gear, but expensive, Sigma can be a good substitute, and of course a little cheaper..Martin has mentioned a 70-300mm lense, good choice for all round stuff..not the fastest of lenses, F4 I think, but you WILL get good results..Something to F2 would of course be better, but very pricey, and maybe to work up to. What ever you get lense wise, hurry up and get clicking, take loads of pics..its the only way to get familiar with your gear..We look forward to see-ing some of your pics soon..But remember, people who have put good pictures, especially action shots on here, and on other sites have probably had a lot of practice with their cameras..

A great all round lense, which is the envy of a lot of other makers is the Nikon 18-200mm, maybe too slow to put a 2x converter on, but the quality is mint, and pictures from it heaven..Your talking £450 though..

cheers for your help and the other people its a job to get an unbiased opinion in the shops and most of them are clueless about working dogs learnt a lot cheers trader :drink::drink:
