mad al 146
they could have won it before, pigs may have flown . I was inspired to post this by something said on the radio first thing this morning. Here we have a team on top of their game and we all know why, six months ago they were bundled out of the World Cup and good enough for them I'd say Now the team playing today is basically the same team that was in cloud feckin cuckoo land six months ago, but then they were a bunch of arrogant twats who thought that to play for your country all you had to do was turn up. Not any more though, if they don't walk the walk, then they don't play and thank feck they have come back down to earth. You may think that this is another thread about the oval ball, but it isn't, it's about attitude and sportsmen are a first class example of today arrogant attitude, no matter what nationality you choose to look at. I saw the start of this in athletics, quite a few years back, up until then if you were picked to run for your country, it was such an honour to pull on that Welsh vest. What I witnessed though was top flight runners choosing to enter a "money" race rather than run in the trials, with the assumption that they were so good they would be picked any way and couldn't really give a toss. Now I've competed at National and my final race was at International level and by the time I got to there I was forty six. I had the ability at schoolboy level and ran at county level even then, but at that age I had no guidance and was more interested in women, fags, booze ant various herbs and chemicals (the usual suspects!!!) It was almost twenty years later that I had the chance to sort myself out and a really good job was up for grabs with the MOD, part of the criteria for the job was a fitness level that had to be displayed so there was no way around it apart from getting myself in shape, at the time I was over twelve stone and by the time I was at racing weight I was nine stone four pounds and regularly ran as a guest for the forces, basically because they were all so unfit . Now I still had nobody to guide me and to get to this point it was all down to my attitude, I couldn't sit there and wait for everything to come to me, I like loads of other folk had to fight and struggle for everything and this to me is what is missing in todays "heroes/role models", call them what you like. In those days, the folk who could perform were usually the quiet inconspicuous ones spending the build up to an event running back and fore to the loo absolutely feckin crappin themselves, not like the big "I AM" 's of todays society. There is nowt wrong with having dreams, ambitions for your future, but to take it for granted that all you have to do is turn up FFS! The job with the MOD, I didn't get it, I was told the end of the interview that I had to be more than fit to work in this department , but what I was really being told was "you are Welsh and read the wrong newspapers" and the job was given to a fella half my age whose daddy just happened to be a high wank, oops!, sorry I mean ranker in the establishment.............he lasted a little over two weeks  nuff said
