Ossie 11
they're muscovy ducks. my parents had a fox kill 40-odd chickens once. woke up one snowy morning, looked out of the bedroom window across the field behind the farmhouse, the hill was white, dotted with brown & red patches of dead birds, and criss-crossed with fox prints. Guest oldskool
not fox pics i know but it's damage none the less and caused by badgers, they have the upper hand... this was a farm track that was used to get to fields around the back of our ground... now the tractors have to tramp a path through a field to get access... Squirrel_Basher 17,102
Had the phone call last night from an unhappy farmer to ask if we could have a look round the organic sheds for a fox .Several chickens have been taken in the daylight and it now has to stop .We arrived at 9.33 pm and it was like daylight but from experience i know this matters not .A shine around revealed a fox running from one of the sheds with a chicken in its mouth no less .Caught in the act ,bang to rights .I knew if i shouted or squeaked it would be gone big time .My mate had brought a selection of calls from cubs in distress to hare screams .One by one i tried these but the fox was' nt interested and kept trotting away from us to eventually go through a fence.Tried a call that to me seemed like a party blower but to my amazement the fox came back through the fence and stood on the edge still holding the chicken The call resembled a ckhicken in distress i suppose and i held its attention long enough to stalk in for a shot with my mate 22.250 and over it went .A vixen nursing cubs but this was pure pest control and i know where the cubs will be Edited March 19, 2008 by foxdropper Quote Link to post
