richie 1
i visited a patch yesterday that im doing a clear up job with the moles... the garden is about 4 acres or so with mole damage spaced out all over.. there hasnt been any activity there for a while now as ive had a handfull out from the main garden, but when i got there yesterday & noticed that there were 2 new hills 3 metres from the fence line.... i set 2 duffus traps, 1 between the 2 hills & 1 just after the hill about 12 inches away in a dead end tunnel that i take it he was just working on.. i went back there this evening & bingo ! got him in the dead end tunnel.. before this i was using the a.fenn scissor traps & had a few the following day but also had a few false alarms, but i seem to be getting on with the duffus now. also, i owe a thanks to wayne for all the advice hes been giving me.. i know its early days yet with trapping the moles as ive just recently started to take work on clearing them. a few shots " camera phone " Quote Link to post

richie 1
just got back from checking the traps.. i got 3 more in total, 2 in duffus`s & 1 in a scissor. in the 5 areas i had 4 to 5 set to give me a more better chance of getting a result... before this i was only setting 2 in each area. i set a mixture of duffus`s & scissors. in the 3 areas that i got a result from i found that the scissor traps were the ones that were back filled & i ended getting the target further along in the feeding area mainly in the duffus`s. in the last 4 days i have got 5 from this single garden with 3 caught within the same tunnel system within metres of each other, 2 males & 1 female. i thought moles were territorial ? is this because its the mating season ? in total ive had 8 from the same garden in 3 weeks... ive still left 23 traps in the garden as i expect more to come from here.. moley 115
time of year richie , the little fellas are really on the move , if the garden is surrounded by land that has no control going on , it could be a long term thing , them moles are there cos the garden obviously has a supply of worms and the tunnels are there , next mole along only has to work thru the tunnels for food or looking for loving Quote Link to post
