Heres a cheap multi purpose lens for £147.99, I thinks it has a plastic mount but good zoom range, optics and also has image stabilisation..

thats a nice price, how good a zoom will it be compared to a 75-300mm?

I've got the 70-300mm canon IS, its a better build than the mentioned lens above, metal mount, dual IS settings, etc, but double the price. There won't be a massive difference from 250mm to 300mm, I think its a good deal if someone was upgrading from the kit lens

Yip, Ians right...definately better than most lenses offered with most kits, which are JUST to get you going.

Im selling my camera on ebay at the minute, but with a Nikon 70-300mm which should make it more appealing

might have a look at one, been planning an up grade my 75-300 is non IS so fancy one with an IS but was always put off by price.
