F.A.O. SNAREMAN

Recommended Posts

Good results there, looks like youve given them enough rope an they hung emselfs!

Ive got some multi strand stainless here, left over from pigeon jobs. Made a few traces etc, wondered if it would be a go'er for snaring small stuff, ill have to have a play over the next few months.

Coincedence was ordering some bits and bobs from what was essex rodent control and they carry the stainless 0.7mm. Any of you lads tried this type of wire?

WELL LADS ,

TRACE WIRE ETC ............ COULD BE USED FOR SNARES ,

SNAREMAN GAVE ME A NICE LITTLE ROLL .......... OF SOMETHING SIMILAR

ITS BRAIDED HOWEVER , .............GETTING THE FECKER TO KEEP A NICE SHAPE IS A PAIN ....... EVEN WHEN SPUN WITH SIX STRANDS , ....

WHAT IVE DONE IS USED THE OLD RUBY SNARES WHICH SNAREMAN AND GEORDIE SENT ME DOWN :notworthy: .... AS AN EXAMPLE .......AND........... IVE SPUN A FEW UP WITH TWO STRANDS OF COPPER WIRE , IT IMPROVES THE SHAPE HOLDING OF THE NOOSE AND THE TENSION QUALITYS ..........GIVE IT A TRY FELLAS

THATS AN EASY ONE ......... NETTER

MOST LADS WILL BE ABLE TO GET THERE HANDS ON A BIT OF OLD ELECTRICAL FLEX EASILY AND STRIP IT AND PIKE TRACE WIRE ... AND GIVE IT A GO ........

WHERE AS BRASS ....... UNLESS YOU UN - SPIN AN OLD SNARE HAS TO BE BOUGHT BY THE DRUM ....... FECKIN EXPENSIVE IT IS AS WELL MATE

I WAS TALKING ABOUT LADS GIVEING IT A GO WITH VERY LITTLE OUT LAY ;)

SOMETIMES I USE COPPER AND STAINLESS STEEL BRAID TO MAKE UP SNARES OF DIFFERING TYPES MAINLY RAT AND SQUIRREL ..... WHY ? ......... BECAUSE I CAN GET IT FREE :whistling: AND IT MAKES A FINE NOOSE

i use pike trace wire when i can get hold of the stronger stuff ,drennan 7 strand in 50 or 64 lb breaking strain , anything less just isn,t strong enuff , no good for anything but poles or somewhere the caught animal can fall off, works for rats ,squirrels , had a stoat once , tried it for rats once just pegged like a rabbit snare and it broke

it was 7 strands spun used it as it came off the spool and i used it without any brass , the heavier stuff is difficult to get now , plenty about with a plastic coating , but thats no good, never tried it for owt but squirrels and a few rats, the stoat was an incidental , i talked to p@g about it and he swore by 4 strand brass but said he got a % of breakages ,i never got a breakage when the catches were hung off the pole , the only time i got a break was with rats set on thier ground runs
