Tracer Max Elevation adjustment

Recommended Posts

I've got a Deben Tracer Max lamp, mounted with their standard clip-on piece of plastic. The beam is too low, even on maximum elevation.

Deben said to shim it, and with the aid of an upturned Weaver mount and a guitar plectrum, it now points straight. I get the impression this is going to be a serious pain in the ass though, so how common is this?

Deben said it might be faulty, but I don't want to send it in because I don't want to be without it. I could take it back to the shop too, as it's reasonably new, but I don't want to make a fuss over nothing...
