Guest john2007oliver
Well im currently on a BTEC National certificate course, ICT Practitionors (level 3) Which ends July. Now im not really enjoying it, i find it a bit boring that everything is done in theory, ie everything is written not done practically. And to be honest if you ask me, all i have learnt is how to pass assignments and very little about the computer industry Now i've been the job center and connections as well as looked online, the job centre and connections keep telling me to come near the end of my course then they will help me and looking online everyone want someone with experience. And with all that, college keep telling me to return to them and do a foundation degree next year, hmmm i wonder why Then at home i've got me mum saying stay in education and my dad saying get a job, any job. What im looking for is advice on what to do once this course is up. Im bored in college now, so doing a degree will probly be worse. I would like a job, where theres every chance for promotion and working my way up, but to start with would also provide the tools and training needed. Does anyone know of any companies that train up young people? Preferable in the north west, but if push come to shove, and accommodation was accessible, i think i would be will to take the plunge and move(hopefully with abundance of runnable game ) Also does anyone know any good forum where i might find the advice nessisary all the ones i've came across are dead Edited February 19, 2008 by john2007oliver

Missie 1
Could you not go in at a low level and do a degree either through the company or through OU? It would get you into the world and gain you some experience whilst also getting the higher qualifications.

I think I'll have a good chat with one of my good tutors this week, and tell them im not interested in coming back to the college full stop. They must be able to enlighten me or at least point me in the right direction. But for now any more advice welcome

macberran 2
John I'm sorry mate as I,m mainly in consruction I can't advise but I agree with DL you should be getting a placement now or some structure from the course co-ordinators as tooo how to move forward. Else there is no point too the course really. Tell your lecturers straight, they'll be quite happy as long as theres least to-do, shake em-up and then go higher
