wabbithunter_15 0
are there different breeds of lurchers such as long haired and short haired? Quote Link to post
lurcher-lad 2
lurchers are a type of dog not a breed and can look very different depending on what cross it is. Quote Link to post
wabbithunter_15 0
what i mean is... if the dogs where mated lurcher to lurcher can you get both short haired and long haired. as some people have pictures of their lurchers and while one mans may be short haired another mans could be long haired. but they both say they are 100% lurchers Quote Link to post
Guest john2007oliver
what i mean is... if the dogs where mated lurcher to lurcher can you get both short haired and long haired. as some people have pictures of their lurchers and while one mans may be short haired another mans could be long haired. but they both say they are 100% lurchers " A lurcher is defined by the crossing of one or more sight hounds with one or more working dogs" So If you cross a saluki with a collie chances are it will have long hair. A greyhound with a collie may produce different textures of coat within one litter. Look at bull breeds; bull is type .. the breeds are Staffordshire bull terrier, english bull terrier APBT etc Lurcher's aren't a breed they are a type. No such thing as 100% lurcher really, but its easier to say its a 100% lurcher to people who don;'t know much about them than try and explain it all to them, so that probably why they have told you they are both 100% lurcher - or they could be quite a few breeds in there and they don't know or cant be bothered listing them. Hope that makes sense lol Quote Link to post

Hob&Jill 258
Most adverage joes (mohameds?) think of lurchers as the greengrass, grey shaggy coated type dog like deerhound and beddy crosses. A while back I posted something from adtrader with a ad asking for KC reg lurchers! Quote Link to post
