inan 841
Magwitch and I were asked by one of our regular Farmers to ferret a bank on his brothers pig farm,we turned up today, ran out two long nets ,put in the pugs and after about 5 hrs ,all we had to show were cold fingers and feet,we had seen about 6 bunnies run up and down the bank, hole hopping ,but we had none in the bag at the end of the day. Now before anyone says you should be on the ferreting section ,I,ll get to my point.Sitting in tonight I got the urge,[no not that one, that isn,t as spontaneous as it used to be], the urge to have a spin on the lamp,Im out with my 18month old dog Mon night ,so I thought it would be a good time to test my 8 month old pup, sadly when I got to the ground the moon was out in all it,s splendour, like daylight really ,well ,I thought ,I,m here so here goes, walked the field up,it,s a rough scrub field which I chose deliberatedly ,to give the pup a chance, didn,t want any billiard table shit off a shovel runs for him, anyway ,walked into the wind, nothing ,just going to give up when I saw a red eye,,one lone bunny ,walked it up ,it sat fairly tight ,even so the pup didnt see it till it jumped,he missed it on the first turn ,over shooting it,but tightened up after that and caught it on his second strike, given the conditions,I didn,t push my luck, back in the 4x4 and home total time out 45 mins, very pleased with him,no big deal I know but I hope it will be the first of many .Inan. Ps Magwitch ,if you read this ,Ive got your locator case and screwdriver. Now to open a bottle and celebrate! Quote Link to post
