Single ferret box

Posted on the ferreting page but I thought I'd pop it on here as i was quite pleased with it; needed a single ferret box so knocked one up on the 3d printer.

Come out really good; super strong and lightweight. Big enough easily for a large hob and could probably get 2 smaller ferrets in it

I haven't seen one used yet is it as strong as normal plastic

Yes; most definitely. This is made from pla which isn't the strongest of them, the catches are petg which is stronger but pla is more than strong enough for this purpose. Made all sorts with it and all seems good so far

The printer wasn't cheap but this box with webbing (enough for about 10 boxes) set me back about £20

Excellent that ain’t it, if you got a printer that is haha is everythjng you print the same material in end? Or can your print diff plastics of that makes sense haha I had a black plastic one years ago from a pal who gave it up an it lasted years, then I bought another one an it was left in a bright garage over the summer and become brittle as fcuk, but for 20 quid you’d print a new one every season wouldnt ye haha keep us posted how it gets on please mate

There's several plastics you can print out of and they vary from like rubber through to rock hard. I've gone for one that's not the hardest to avoid that brittleness hopefully.

Without getting too nerdy, it also depends on the infill of the print. That box is made of thousands of layers, so you can pick what percentage is filled in and that changes the strength of it aswell.

Oh and another thing people do is coat them with a paint on resin, that way they're fully sealed and a bit tougher as well
