Scuzy 1
Hello all, I have 2 albino hobs, and i have just aquired a polecat jill from a friend. I am planning on breeding them and the jill does not seem to be in season as her vulva isnt swollen but the problem is, the previous owner has kept her with his hob since november and when i had her yesterday i put her in with my hob who i intend to breed her with for the night and he bit her arond the neck and everything but i didnt stay around to watch . Now they are seperate but my question is, would the previous owners hob have mated with her in that time(of the year)? and would have my hob been able to breed with her when she wasnt in heat? I just want to find this out beacause im going to keep them seperate now until march when she should definitley be in season and if she is in heat then i will breed them properly but if she is pregnant - either from my hob or his? - she will not come into heat? Am i correct? Any help appreciated Luke. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
very doubtful that she would have been in season in november, and if she was pregnant by that hob, you'd see it, as you'd have one very large bellied jill, the reason your hob grabbed her, is that he's ready, willing and able now, but as you have stated, she's not, its not a good idea to say "march" for your breeding plans, she will come into season when she's ready, and no, he cant breed with her, unless she's in heat, but he can and will go through the motions of necking her etc, better to keep them apart till its time, or she'll have a very sore neck Quote Link to post

stubby 175
hobs will try mating with anything, including other hobs if kept together, mine all live in a court system, and regularly have sore necks from trying it out on each other , saves me having to have single hobs in single cages though Quote Link to post

It can a bloody pain when they start scrapping but doing the extra cage will sort the problem Quote Link to post
