Bornagainyorkshire 44
Evening gents, Been a while. I had my beloved 97kt stolen on New year's eve from my yard and I'm yet to replace it. Looks like I might be taking on a bit of light pest control work, with the company hiring me paying for the rifle or at least contributing towards one. I have a budget of 300-400 at a stretch. I've seen an old FWB 124 being sold locally, and also a hw77, but am torn between the two. I loved my hw 97kt, had it vortek tuned and was an absolute joy to shoot... But the fwbs are beautiful things... I'm unsure which to make an offer on and all the advice and help ive from you lads in the past has been very helpful so thought I'd step back in Quote Link to post
philpot 5,088
I have no idea about springers but we do have a guy, Mark Williams, who has two FWB which he uses for hunting and swears by them so a good person to talk to. He has been ill so I will give him a message and get him on the case for you. Phil 1 Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,568
Hi there BGY great rifle you mention , the FWB SPORT IS A PERSONAL FAVOURITE OF MINE, but there again so is the 77, mate go for whichever fits you best and you shoot best with the 97 is also a firm favourite of mine - oh well, HERE`S MY 97 AT WORK. My recommendation would lean towards the 97 - simply because of spares and repairs ,once tuned they are utterly superb but so are the others . your choice sir? both the. mk2 77 and mk1 124 are right up there with the very best , don't forget the best fit -for you. b Heres the 124 at work , rabbits from the freezer D O REMEMBER SPARES AND REPAIRS for any rifles you own the early MK2 hw 77 LONG .177 AT WORK 2 Quote Link to post
Bornagainyorkshire 44
Thanks Mark,to muddy the waters even further i've found a 97k for sale locally within budget. I might just stick with what I know and get a replacement 97, this one has a wooden stock (the old one was plastic tactical job that I never particularly liked). I spoke to the gunshop holding the FWB 124, it's one of the early ones with a plastic trigger - the plastic trigger puts me off a bit if im honest. I've seen you can get machined aluminium replacements, but theyre £60 a go. Thanks for your advice, I'll figure out what i'm going to go with next week. 2 Quote Link to post

Bornagainyorkshire 44
Ended up finding a MK3 tx200hc around my budget locally, picked it up this morning. Shoulders lovely and very impressed by the quality of it. Minimal twang compared to an untuned HW. Look forward to zeroing it this evening. 3 Quote Link to post
philpot 5,088
I had one and I was bloody useless with it until one of our members on here tuned it for me, my god it was a tack driver when he had finished so much so that even I was able to put pellet on pellet and I am just not a springer man....................as one or two on here will tell you .
