ferreting trip turned bad

Recommended Posts

me and dad did abit of ferreting today ,the first two warrens we did are in a grass paddock and we decided to see if we could get any bolters for ,fly but it was not to be as these didnt produce anything.the next warren we had one bolt into the stop net but missed two which didnt tangle up well enough because of the amount of twigs and sticks tangled in the 10yrds of webbing .we had a quick bolt into the purse net out of the next warren we ferreted and then the land owner came over for a chat and wants us to see to some more hedge rows but just before he left we had another tangle up in purse net which he was pleased about . then the next warren seemed as though there was nothing at home but dad noticed some movement inside a bolt hole,so the ferret was placed right behind it and within seconds we had another bolt.it wasnt untill i heard "you f*****g b*****d" and saw the net get thrown to the floor that i realised dad had only grabbed a big feckin rat in the purse net which had then bit him pretty bad.fly was was straight there to dispatch it and with a few shakes she had added a rat to her tally.it was only the other week when we bolted another just seconds after i had stuck my arm down a hole and pulled out a rotten rabbit.well we were both a little shocked ,dads hand pissing with blood we got the gear packed up and spent the next hour in accident and emergancy.the final bag was three rabbits and one rat ,another interesting couple of hours and well worth the day of work.heres a few pics for you.
