Bangersanmash 4,180
Morning guys haven't been on for awhile due to been too busy at work and evening garden work and birds then some snap and bed. Well finally the goldfinches are showing signs 6 pairs. One pair have had 5 eggs first time parents. With first time parenting I've always taken the first round off the young hens and put them under a feeding pair. She's back building again now so the next round what al do is take the eggs swap them over with canary eggs. When a see her rearing the canary chicks up fine for the first few days , then a will swap the young over to her own young. But in the past I've had sib goldfinches throw the young out of the nests an when first starting out lost young. A will never make that mistake again. So now always do that first for the first few days. Anyway the 5 eggs are fertile so I'm over joyed. So I'm off the mark fingers crossed but I've got all faith in this feeding pair due to them already bring the first round of canaries up fine for first year paenting. I've another few pairs that have been what they call mouthing one another chatting. One pairs built well the pied cock birds built the nest. This morning seen the hen fly up when he's called her up at 6 this morning. So hopefully give it a few days should have some eggs.
