shovel leaner 7,648 Posted August 23, 2022 Report Share Posted August 23, 2022 I’ve just returned from holiday in Cornwall, and I learned a couple of things I didn’t know . My wife and I visited St Ives for a day trip , the beach was literally covered in thousands of spider crab shells , I asked someone what had caused it to happen ? Spider crabs shed their shells as they grow it’s a regular phenomenon and something triggers them to all do it at the same time , and the cast off shells wash up on the beach . I was in the caravan awning and noticed something on a bottle lid that looked like a small stick insect. A quick google confirmed that they have established themselves in Devon and Cornwall.
