So, here's my BIG secret! ..... Anyone come to perhaps start sensing a slight rettisence about me this passing winter? As in; Whilst I spent much of the summer rushing around setting traps and generally having adventures, all this winter so far I've actually mentioned doing precious little except wandering up the track and along the road with my rifle?

Truth to tell; That's because wandering about the track and road is about all I have been doing! And why? Well ..... because I simply haven't got any half decent foot wear! :icon_redface: True! Last pair of hiking boots I could afford turned out to be utter crap (GROUNDWORK. Avoid that make like the f*ckin plague!!! Total shit!) and let the skightest drop of rain straight through the uppers. Then half the sole started falling off! I just can't afford new boots right now, so I've been scuffing around like a f*cking tramp this past six months and Unable to leave the metaled roads for fear of trench foot or pneumonia!

So, anyway, realising my plight, Dean O's pointed out that we have the same foot size and that he has a pair of perfectly servicable boots he no longer needs. 'Nuff said! Who am I to argue? And then, as a bonus, they turn out to be a style I had before and cherished as the, then, best sort of boots I'd ever had! Things were looking up!

Till I tried to walk in them :( They're my size alright. But there was a quirk. My toe nails! Better explained, briefly, in words than shown to ye. For some obscure reason, over the years, my toe nails have grown thick as hell! Ye know how yours get Long? Well, my f*ckers got High! Damned if I know how or why. They just did! I ended up with toe nails well over 1/4" thick! Result? My tower block toe nails were pressing against the inner toe cap of these boots and, once again, I was crippled for trying to walk in them.

Then, a week or two ago, as I explained all this to him in my misery, Dean just shrugged and smiled and said: " Get that Dremmel out then! ". I let it pass. As ye do!

Well, I'd just like to say a Huge Thankyou to Dean, both for the boots And the brilliant stroke of pure bloody genius! Because this morning I finally thought, WTF and got my Dremmel out! Almost an hour later, covered in nail dust and having worked like a demon with the abrasive drum attatchment, I found my toe nails looked pretty much normal! And, as I've effectively Filed them - not Cut them - they should, I s'pose, now continue to grow more normally?

Anyway, what ever. I've just come back in with the Dogs. I walked miles in these boots and know what? I'm sat here now in them, wiggling my toes! Perfectly comfortable! :clapper:

Taking a f*cking Dremmel to ye toe nails, eh? Who the hell would've thought it? Well, thank f*ck Dean O' did! :D

Now I'll once again be able to actually enter the bloody fields around here and get back to Doing Something! :toast:
