I know it was an accident but why didn't he leave the line go slack to see if the hook would fall out......when you do it accidently while salmon fishing the hook always falls out!! 

I was fishing a bunch of worms for salmon one morning and a otter followed the bunch right to my feet and gave me a good chattering to before disappearing back into the deep!

 those pike  jig flies have a massive hook , it could have been bad for the otter if he slacked up and the line got tangled.  Its a difficult one to know what to do for the best. I bet he was relieved it cam off,  I certainly wouldn't fancy trying to unhook it
