Confession time and Brno mag stripdown

I had barely crawled out of bed yesterday when the phone rang.

It was a lovely elderly lady . Her little two acres of wilderness in the middle of town seems to be the the place where any mangey fox on its last legs chooses to hole-up and die. It helps that the garden can't be overlooked due to its high walls.

I get regular calls to help them on their way and usually go home with a pot of jam or honey and a small financial reward.

I arrived ,parked the van just  inside the gate and snuck towards the spot where the fox - a very bald and scabby specimen-was said to be having a nap on the lawn.

It was indeed asleep , a mere 25 yards away.  I popped the poor thing off and heard a whistle from an upstairs window  from where the elderly lady was gesticulating towards another fox . It too had been asleep and was looking around in a slightly bleary-eyed manner.

With thoughts of going home with two pots of honey l aimed and ....click.

Misfire? Er , no . Pulling the bolt back l realised the magazine had jammed. By the time l'd scrabbled a bullet into the chamber by hand the fox had wisely departed. All a bit embarrasing really.

Now for the confession.     Apart from a wipe with a rag and a quick poke with a matchstick the mag has been untouched for forty years.

In fact until l looked on youtube on my return from the sorry event l didn't  even know a Brno Mod2 magazine actually came apart......l am a true numpty.

Mind you , my mag certainly didn't  dismantle as easily  as the one in the video. Not surprising after 40 years of neglect l suppose. I repeat ; l am a numpty.

Anyway , thanks to the power of YouTube it's working smoothly now. And last night l shot a rabbit and a fox on my own permission . The farmer will be pleased,the ferrets will eat well but l won't  be getting any honey.

I probably don't  deserve it anyway

Got to confess to just opening the cabinet and throwing guns back in, only time I clean them is when I’m getting rid
