New Cheapish Hunting Rig works great. Cometa Redemption.

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a cost effective hunting rig and Ive put together a few bits, that have amazed me for what they can do for the cost and well what I thought they might do when I either chanced buying them and or took them out of the box.

I ordered a Hatsan Mod50 but they have importing problems at Edgar's, so as Is paid some dosh already I topped it up at Solware did me a deal on a Cometa Fusion Carbine. Now I won't go into the details, but the gun went back to ASI the Cometa Importers and they happily sent me the one I wanted, full length barrel adjustable cheek piece job.

I've been watching these scopes on Amazon from a company called In Your Sights, they have their own website, but next day on Amazon. They do a scope 6-24 x 50 AOEG IR first thing. Don't turn the IR on.... Its horrid the ret has a range finger and is odd and on the fat side. The mag is more like 16 than a 24, but I found a guy shooting centre fire with one of these on YouTube and he gave it top marks. I thought if it's crap I can send it back. Now I have a few of them hahaha... They are on a couple of my cheaper plinker hunters and I put one on the Cometa with a one piece mount of similarly discounted type...

I hunt with 0.177 JSB Heavies and Hades. But I'm out of Hades.

So I sighted in with the heavies and.. Blimey... Once I'd adjusted the trigger (something could do with a polish in there) and mastered the hold a bit... After the barrel leaded up it was same holing at 25 yards like... Actual same hole... I hadn't touched the scope. It was 11 o'clock mid high... I set both turrets to zero for a laugh and threeded one half an inch from the bull and again shot a slightly larger jagged hole. Now these scopes are course I think so a few clicks down and left and bam bull bull bull.... Flipping heck... Scope was less that fifty quid, OK the ret and IR is poor but the image quality and accuracy is Hawke territory. Totally fine and usable and..... Accurate.

Ready for some greys at the feeder.
