what material for making purse rabbit nets

Recommended Posts

hi everyone hope someone can help me. i am about to start tying my own nets and have been looking around the internet for places that sell the materials needed. i have managed to find quite a few sites but what has confused me is the best material to use and what materials you cant use. (Twisted P.E, Twisted Nylon, Spun Nylon, Braided P.E and Braided Nylon are all available from advancednetting and i was wondering if any of these where suitable).

also have been looking for running line materials which seem to be harder to track down any help on different materials that can be used for this would be appreciated.

cheers

to start id use hemp if you can get a spool cheap as the first few nets wont be anything special unless your a natural. hemp is easy to make them out of as alot of nylon has a stretch (even some spun nylon) which if your not carfull will give you alot of wonky sized meshes. as for running lines, just use 2-3mm braided nylon. i get mine off ropeseller_23 or someone similar on ebay. the link to there shop has been posted on here a few times anyway. good luck,

Hello.Hemp is fine if you give them the chance to dry properly after a dunk in a ditch or rain. But a spun-nylon net handles like a traditional hemp one,is stronger, close to rot-proof,costs the same as hemp and takes the same amount of time to make! I agree that it is a good plan to practice a few rows of stitching with some cheap string first though.Get your drawcord from the same supplier as your' Hemp/Spun Nylon /twine of choice or go to your local dressmaker/fabric shop. They have a choice of thicknessess and will sell it by the yard(sorry metre..It's me age) straight off the roll. That's my excuse for hanging around dress-shops
